Alfa Laval LKUV-2 Air-relief ValveAlfa Laval LKUV-2 Air-Relief Valve

The Alfa Laval LKUV-2 is a self-acting, hygienic air-relief valve designed to automatically release excess air from process pipelines or pumps. By preventing air entrainment and cavitation, it helps protect equipment and reduce product loss. Vertically installed, this air venting valve is particularly suited for applications requiring consistent pressure conditions—such as on pump inlet pipes or at high points in pipeline systems. Ideal for Cleaning-in-Place return line (CIP-R) operations, the LKUV-2 supports hygienic processes in the dairy, food, beverage, and other sanitary industries.

How does LKUV-2 Air-Relief Valve work?

The Alfa Laval LKUV-2 Air-relief Valve is an air-relief valve with a free moving polypropylene  ball, which is lighter than water. The polypropylene ball alternates between two seats depending on pressure conditions on the inlet. When the pressure on the inlet increases, the ball is forced off the lower valve seat and moves to the upper seat, thereby closing the valve against the atmosphere. If air enters the system, the pressure is reduced, thereby moving the ball away from the upper seat and venting excess air to the atmosphere. If there is no pressure or vacuum in the system, the ball alternates to lower position thereby closing the valve.
